Situated on a hill overlooking the waterfront in the Old Government House, the Calabar museum is the former residence of the colonial governor. The building was designed and built in Glasgow, then shipped to Calabar and assembled in pieces.
The museum details the rich history of Calabar, the region, palm oil production, and the slave trade. In its possession is a large collection of original documents on Nigeria. Guided tour from one of the staff is readily available. |
